Description

Velmarche, October 1974. Twenty years after the fall of the Regency, which struck citizens deemed undesirable off the registers, a law at last makes it possible to re-register those who were called “the absent”. As a rapporteur at the Civil Re-registration Office, the player is handed an estate to investigate: an almost empty family tree and boxes of archives.

Letters, certificates, group photographs, directories, postcards, newspaper articles and a period card reader that answers to keywords: nothing is imposed in any order. The player pulls whichever thread they like, takes notes, pins and cross-checks, then fills in each slot of the tree (name, face, occupation). Answers are only confirmed by groups: you don’t guess, you deduce.

An engraved, watercoloured map of the country opens the archives of each place. Side secrets change the ending; achievements and a timed mode invite you to play again.

L’Arbre aux absents is developed by CM Interactive, written and illustrated by CM Creative Lab, and published by CARDOR Media.
